Science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Our aim is to fuel every child’s curiosity in finding out why things happen in the way they do. A key element of primary science is to teach methods of enquiry and investigation to stimulate creative thought. Our pupils learn to ask scientific questions and begin to appreciate the way science will affect their future on a personal, national, and global level.
Key Stage One- Science is integrated within the Learning for life sessions from Early years to Year 3. Pupils are taught in focus groups and are also given the opportunity to explore independently within their environment. Key Stage Two- Within Years 4-6, the subject is taught as an isolated subject for two hours a week. Pupils are separated into three target group based on their ability and learning needs.
