This is an opportunity for parents to come in and talk about school, what is going well and what more, if anything, would you like for your children.

We are offering your child the opportunity to take part in a WOW experience where the Viking Man will be coming into school on Monday 13th February 2017. This is a FREE TRIP
The Viking Man will arrive at 9.00 a.m. and will be carrying out a workshop for approximately 1.5 hours. The rest of the day we be carrying out other Viking activities. No food will be involved. Members of staff from Highfield School will also be with the children for the duration of the day.
Children will need to wear school uniform.
Please understand that while the school staff in charge of the party will take all reasonable care of the children, they cannot necessarily be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury suffered by your child arising during a school activity.
The school is insured against its legal liability to pay compensation should it be held responsible for causing an injury to your child whilst in the care of staff. The school has not arranged any additional insurance in respect of the visit e.g. personal accident. Should you be concerned about this area of risk, you are advised to make your own arrangements.
Please complete the consent form that was sent out recently and return it to your child’s class teacher by Thursday 9th February 2016. You will need to make payment of your voluntary contribution using the cashless system in the same way you pay for dinner money. You can make payment online using a debit card or with a barcode from the school office at a pay point

Congratulations to our year 5 and 6 girls football team coming 1st place in the PACT Aston League Karen Carney division. The girls played 6 matches in the league and won all of their matches. Well done to all the girls that represented the football team this is a brilliant achievement!
Congratulations to our year 5 and 6 boys football team coming 1st place in the PACT Aston League Pele division. The boys played 10 matches in the league and finished the season unbeaten. Well done to all the boys that represented the football team this is a fantastic achievement!
As part of our wrap around provision, we have set up a Breakfast Club to support our parents and children. Breakfast Club starts at 8:00 a.m. and finishes at 8:45 a.m.
The purpose of Breakfast Club is to provide the children attending with a variety of opportunities including a varied breakfast including hot meals, to engage the children in a variety of fun and engaging activities and to ensure the children are ready to start school on time.
On the menu for Breakfast Club we have the following:
Porridge Cereal Yoghurt Fruit Toast Beans Egg Fresh Juice Milk
To support our families we are opening Breakfast club to families that may need this provision in the morning. We hope this will be a supportive service for our parents to have access to.
From Monday 27th February 2017, the cost for Breakfast Club is:
50p per day for Free School Meal children and £1 per day for Non Free School Meal children. Any siblings will pay 50p if a child in the family is being charged £1 and 25p per sibling for free school meal children.

Year 1 – Maths Workshop
We would like to invite all Year 1 parents to our Maths Workshop on Wednesday 15th February 2017. The aim of the workshop is to provide ideas for you to help your child with their maths at home. There will be lots of interactive activities for you to have a go at with your child and ideas for activities you could do at home to make learning with your child fun.
The workshop will take place in the school hall at 9:10 a.m.
Please take your child to line up in the playground as usual first thing in the morning. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Year 1 Staff
As part of our wrap around provision, we have a school breakfast club in place. We have been working closely with City Serve to make improvements to the menu and provision at Breakfast Club. The new menu and changes to the club will start after half term on Monday 27th February.
Please be aware that if your child currently attends Breakfast Club, you will need to ensure that they have arrived before 8:25 a.m.
As of next Monday 6th February 2017, any children arriving after 8:25 a.m. will not be allowed into Breakfast Club.
Following this letter you will receive more information regarding the new changes and details on how to access Breakfast Club provision.
