The Aston Villa Foundation are delighted to announce an innovative new partnership with the Prince Albert Community Trust (PACT) that will transform the delivery of physical activity in a number of Birmingham schools.
The Foundation will be employing a Villa Community Champion in collaboration with PACT whose role will be to deliver Aston Villa Foundation programmes in their schools.
The full-time role, which will be based in the schools themselves, will help to ensure that the club have a presence at the heart of education in the city, putting the Foundation in the best possible position to impact positive change on students.
Manager of Foundation and Community Partnerships, Andy Taylor, believes the link with PACT will aid the Foundation’s attempts to have a greater impact on the physical and mental wellbeing of school children in the local community.
He said: “We’re delighted to build on our existing primary school programmes with this new model, which allows greater focused engagement. We will be working very closely with the schools to measure the positive impact of the engagement over the course of the year.
“This representation within the schools also allows exit routes through our wider family interventions such as holiday activity, employability and health-based projects as we work to develop a family approach, starting in the schools.”
The Villa Community Champion will aim to deliver projects and interventions that help raise attendance, empower pupils, improve students’ health and wellbeing and increase inclusive activities, among other objectives, in PACT schools.
PACT is responsible for four primary schools in Birmingham – Heathfield Primary School, Highfield J&I School, Birchfield Community School and Prince Albert Primary School – and CEO Sajid Gulzar is excited about the opportunities the partnership presents.
He said: “As an AVFC Hub school we will adopt a collaborative delivery approach to ensure that our staff, pupils and their families benefit from skilled expertise and additional resources. The aim is to enable our pupils to excel both in and outside of the classroom. “
We are extremely excited about the partnership and how it can serve our communities. We hope that the collaboration will benefit our children across PACT for many years to come.”
There will be a year 6 transition day on Wednesday 4th July at their new secondary schools for the whole day.
All year 6 students will not need to attend Highfield School on that day and this will not affect their attendance record.

On Tuesday 3rd July, we will be holding a "Science Day" at Highfield School. On this day, your child will be taking part in lots of fun activities based on the Science curriculum. To make this day as fun as possible we are asking for all children and staff to dress up in a "Science" theme. Some ideas might be,

Reception have been given the amazing opportunity to visit the Nature Centre at Cannon Hill Park.
They will spend some time at the nature centre as well as spending some time exploring the great outdoors in the park itself.
The trip will take place on Thursday 12th July and we will spend the whole day there, we will be leaving school at 9.30 and will return by 3.15.
The trip will cost £3.50 and payments need to be received by Friday 29th June.
All children will be required to wear school uniform and sensible footwear.

We are pleased to announce that Highfield School is holding a summer fayre on Thursday 12thJuly, after school. Please keep the date in your diary!
On Friday 6thJuly, there will be a non-uniform day. There is no payment for this, however we kindly ask that children bring in a donation for our tombola. Please could the children donate the following depending on which class they are in.
Reception and Years 1 to 3 – Chocolate donations. This could be as simple as a chocolate bar.
Years 4 to 6 – Cans or bottles such as bubble bath or soft drinks. No alcohol please!
We are also looking for any unwanted gifts you may have, or bric-a-brac such as unwanted toys or books, for one of our stalls. Please could you bring these to the Junior Hall, if your child is in KS2, or the Infant Hall if your child is in reception or KS1 on the 6thJuly when you drop off your children in the morning. We appreciate your support with this.
Finally, if you would like to have stall at the fayre, please leave your contact details with the office and Mrs Yusefi from class 5Y will get in touch with you. Please note that it costs £10 to hire a stall and they are available on a first come, first served basis. We have a limited number of stalls available.

We are offering your child a place to take part in a visit to Sutton Parkon Thursday 5th of July 2018.
Your child will leave school at 9.00am and return to school by 3.15pm.
Your child does not need to bring a packed lunch, all children will be given a free school meal.Children are required to wear their uniform with sensible shoes. It is necessary to ask for a voluntary financial contribution if this activity is to take place. If you would like to make a contribution of £1.00 towards the trip,it would be very much appreciated.
All payments are now made online using our new cashless system, which can be done by paying online or in participating shops. Passwords, if you do not already have one for your child, are available from the office.
The consent forms must be returned to school by Tuesday 19thof June 2018. Please return the reply slip to the class teacher.
I understand that while the school staff in charge of the party will take all reasonable care of the children, they cannot necessarily be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury suffered by your child arising during our out of school activity.
The school is insured against its Legal Liability to pay compensation should it be held responsible for causing an injury to your child whilst in the care of staff. The school has not arranged any additional insurance in respect of the visit e.g. personal accident. Should you be concerned about this area of risk you are advised to make your own arrangements.
Please be aware that in the event of not enough voluntary contributions being made, the visit may have to be cancelled.
