As you may be aware, Tuesday 28th June is a PACT Online Safety Day.
This time, we will be running a competition open to all children across the trust. As you know, we currently have Hector the dolphin which is a child-activated safety button. Hector the Dolphin has been keeping children safe online for many many years but sadly it is time for him to retire and for someone new to take his place.
We thought it would be great if the children could design their own character to be a child-led safety button, along with a name and some additional information, such as likes/dislikes.
The winner from each school will then have their design turned into a real computer program which will run on all of the computers in school for the next 12 months. If successful, we will then look to run this competition again next year.
The closing date for entries will be Monday 4th July.
Please find below two posters which explain the competition to children.
Classes will all be asked to look at their entries and nominate three to be put forward as their final 'class entries'.
The winners will then be chosen by our Online Safety Little Leaders and announced in due course.
We look forward to seeing some amazing designs for our new PACT Safety Button.

We are delighted to announce that following the successful voting on new school houses, as of September 2016 the new houses will be:
To celebrate the launch of our new school houses we are pleased to inform you that in September 2016 your child will receive a FREE P.E t shirt as part of the new P.E uniform for Highfield School. The t shirt will feature your child’s house logo which is the house they will remain in for their time at Highfield School. This t shirt will then be worn for every P.E lesson along with black shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings and suitable footwear.
May I also take this opportunity to inform you that should your child require a new t shirt due to loss or damage following receiving their free t shirt they will need to be purchased at a cost of £5.30 per t shirt. In order to avoid your child losing there t shirt when they have received it, it is advised that you write/label your child’s name clearly inside of the t shirt.
We hope that you are pleased with our new houses and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in forming the new houses. We also hope that your child/ren will enjoy their new t shirt and will support their Physical Education during their time at Highfield School.
I would like to thank all the children, parents and staff that voted for the new school houses, we look forward to introducing them next academic year.
